Very Heavy Rain Risk Area
The monsoon through lies across the North and the upper Norhtheast while the southwest monsoon prevailing over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf is strengthening. At the same time, an active low-pressure cell covers the upper Northeast of Thailand. Isolated heavy rains are likely in Thailand while isolated very heavy rains with strong wind are possible in the North, the Northeast, the East and the South(west coast) regions.
The rather strong wind forces the waves in the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf up to 2-3 meters high and above 3 meters high in thundershowers. In the lower Andaman Sea, the waves are likely about 2 meters high and above 2 meters high in thundershowers.
In addition, an active low-pressure cell over the upper Northeast of Thailand will move through the monsoon trough that lie across over the North and the Northeast of Thailand. It is forecast to covers the North by tomorrow (31 Aug).
People in thease areas should beware of heavy to very heavy rains and its accumulation that may cause flash floods and overflows especially along the waterways near foothills and lowlands.
All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers, small boats in the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf should keep ashore and people along the coast of the East and the upper South west coast should beware of storm surge during 30 August - 2 September.
